It's hard to say what the best thing about living here has been. It could be living in the heart of a warm, welcoming, thriving village community but enjoying our own privacy too. We've relished the sunshine that floods our living space throughout the day and driving home and without fail, whilst the gate opens and welcomes us back, appreciating its landmark silhouette and the craftsmanship of the brickwork in the gatehouse. It's been a privilege living here, falling asleep to the peaceful sounds of owl and deer whilst being only an hour from London. Mainly though, it's been wonderful to love and enjoy this welcoming home. We've hosted friends, celebrated our family, dined, grown a garden, played in the park opposite, watched the sun rise each morning from our bedroom then, in the summer, watched it set with the kitchen doors wide open whilst eating dinner on the patio. Our favourite time of day here though, might be late evening, after all the work is done, sitting together in the gazebo, relaxing, looking back on the day and at North Lodge, whilst our family grow inside.
History & Background
Originally North Lodge served as a gate lodge for Gosfield Hall along with the now demolished South Lodge. This character red brick building features dog tooth pattern brick work and inlayed arches which mirror several of the doors and windows of the property. North Lodge has been extended over the last 50 years, firstly with a single storey addition which is now the kitchen and latterly a double storey which makes up the main accommodation of the sitting room, dining area and three of the en-suite bedrooms. Planning has been granted (with conditions) for a first-floor balcony accessed from the principal bedroom's en-suite and via a circular, external staircase from the ground floor.
